MacRobertson Rowing Program

Your school has a strong association with the Y Rowing Club on Albert Park Lake and
has developed a partnership which offers students a choice of two rowing programs

Suitable for beginners and those with experience 

Modern equipment designed for young rowers.

Great for component of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for Skill or Physical Education.

All programs are staffed by qualified instructors with Working with Children Checks.

Cost start at $130 per term

When ?

Recreation Monday

TERM 1 – RECREATIONAL CREW ROWING

Type: Recreational Rowing

Day: Monday

Time: 3:30pm – 5:00pm 

Cost: $130

  • For total beginners wishing to learn a new team-based on-water skills
  • For girls with previous rowing experience wishing to improve rowing skills
  • No competition involvement
  • Attend one session per week

Recreation Tuesday

TERM 1 – RECREATIONAL CREW ROWING

Type: Recreational Rowing

Day: Tuesday

Time: 3:00pm – 4:30pm 

Cost: $130

  • For total beginners wishing to learn a new team-based on-water skills
  • For girls with previous rowing experience wishing to improve rowing skills
  • No competition involvement
  • Attend one session per week

Elite

TERM 1 – ELITE ROWING PROGRAM

Type: Competitive Rowing

Training sessions: Monday 3.30pm-5:00pm, Tuesday 3:00pm-4.30pm, Saturday 9.15am-11am

Cost: $320

  • Who is this for?
  • Training for future competitions in crew rowing or sculling
  • Minimum of 2, preferably 3, training sessions per week
  •  Involves regular training attendance and fitness testing for crew selections

Getting to the Club

Tram

Where: On St.Kilda Road travelling away from the City.

Trams Nos: 3, 5, 6,16 or 64.

Get off at Stop 27 on St.Kilda Road, cross St.Kilda Rd & walk a block down Lorne St, you will see the Rowing Centre which is a large white building beside the Lake. Cross Queens Rd at the Lights outside the Pulman Hotel.

Don’t walk around the Lake to the club, it is at the opposite end to MacRob, several kilometers away.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

School PE/Sport outfit or similar.

Water Bottle, Sunscreen, Sunnies, Jacket, Hat/Cap.

A thick pair of Socks is important to wear in the boat. 

Phones must be left in the Change room.

You don’t need a towel or swimsuit, you will not be in the water.

Although we have never had a class fall in we do require participants to be able to swim.

Do not walk from school, it will take you too long to arrive.

 

 

We teach lessons in most weather unless it’s unsafe such as high winds or lightening. 

Of course, if its pouring rain we do not send crews outside, but use the time for important education about equipment handling and rowing exercises in our Gym.
